One-to-one device insurance details

Effective from the 2023-2024 academic year, Plum Borough School District's device insurance will be structured around incidents of breakage. Families and students who enrolled in multi-year insurance before this academic year will continue under their existing agreement.

New device insurance claims will adhere to the following payment structure:

• First Occurrence: $35
• Second Occurrence: $50
• Third Occurrence: $70

In the event of loss or theft, the replacement cost will be equivalent to the fair market value of the device at the time of the incident.

Please note the following conditions:

• If a One-to-One device sustains four instances of breakage within a school year, eligibility for Plum Borough School District device insurance will be forfeited. The responsible party will be liable for the full repair or replacement costs.
• No payment is required for devices that remain undamaged throughout their use by the student.

It's important to remember that chargers are not covered by the device insurance program. Lost chargers can be replaced either through the technology department or independently, depending on the Chromebook model. A charger must be provided when returning a Chromebook at the end of its life cycle.

The replacement costs for devices will be determined by their fair market value at the time of replacement.
